Caring support for disordered eating.

Hello, I’m Sian! I am a Credentialed Eating Disorder Dietitian with special interest in both eating disorders and disordered eating. I’m passionate about working with individuals and their families to build healthy relationships with food.

For many years my elevator pitch on my choice of studies was:

“I want to be the kind of dietitian that helps people to enjoy chocolate cake as part of a healthy diet”.

And now my dream has come true!

I am passionate about all things food (not just cake, but that does play a big part) and I love helping people to achieve a healthy diet and lifestyle with a focus on food as a source of nourishment, connection, and joy.

I strongly believe in taking an evidence-based approach to nutrition and providing individualised advice that is sustainable and achievable for long term health.

Most importantly, I work to take the restriction and ‘diet’ out of healthy eating. My focus in nutrition is always on what we can have more of – more nourishment, more healthy choices, more joy from food and eating. For this reason, I take a weight-inclusive approach to my practice. This approach celebrates the wonderful diversity that we have as human beings and puts the focus back where it should be, on caring for our bodies and providing them with the resources they need to be healthy and happy.

My special interest areas are in disordered eating, eating disorders, undernutrition, and nutrition for mental health and I work with individuals across all age groups. My goal is to help you to cut through the confusion on healthy eating without any gimmicks or fads, and to support you and your family towards an enjoyable and healthy relationship with food.

Q&A with Sian!

What’s your favourite food?

Any fruity dessert or cake. I love the strong flavour that fruit can give to a sweet dessert. Anything from fruit cake to pavlova is a winner for me.

What’s your favourite cooking method?

Baking! Not only can I make my favourite food (cake!) in the oven, but I can also make so many other yummy foods.

Why did you become a dietitian?

I developed an interest in nutrition in my mid-twenties while trying to find credible and useful nutrition advice for gaining weight in a healthy way. The more I learned about nutrition during this time, the more my interest developed into a passion for all things food and nutrition. I had always wanted a career where I could help others in a meaningful way, and so blending this desire to help with my passion led me to starting a new career as a dietitian.

As malnutrition is a topic close to my heart, I am excited to work with others who are struggling with getting enough food to support good health. Since my daughter was born, I have also found an interest in nutrition for children and fussy eating. I am excited to be able to work with people of all ages to achieve good nutrition and a healthy relationship with food.
